That's right, but there the size isn't visible. It is visible there but only in pixels, regardless of the document units setting. However, for any object layer (pixel, image, vector, shape, etc.) selected with the Move tool its size will be shown in the Transform panel in the document units.

The metric system of measurement is by far the most widely used system in the world, but in the United States, Imperial units are the most common. Some businesspeople, especially those with a science or engineering background, are comfortable with metric units such as centimeters, but most Americans prefer Imperial units such as inches. Dealing with a unit you’re not familiar at work with is an unnecessary hassle. You can change the settings in Apple's Pages word processing program to inches.
